1890’s Farm House Restoration

The original farmhouse was the homestead of the owner’s grandparents. The homeowner’s main goal was to recreate the timeless feel of the home’s original state, yet incorporate modern amenities that make it more functional. In addition to reinforcing the foundation under parts of the house, we fixed or replaced doors and windows as needed, and added new wood siding to restore the original look and feel of the home.

The kitchen was a unique challenge. Homes built during this period were notoriously small, so we extended the kitchen into a neighboring room to provide needed space and functionality. The shellacked fir cabinets are recreations of what would have been used during the 1890s. The antique style stove, marble countertops, farm front sink, and integrated appliances help recreate the classic feel of the space.

The exterior of the home was also updated to match the original style. We repaired and replaced wood siding, replaced the pergola, and repaired the stone columns and gardening shed.
